Toxin-Free Activewear

Alright. Since activewear is baaaasically what I live in (bar my boyfriend’s clothes), let’s talk about some toxin-free sustainable options. As you know, the majority of my wardrobe is pre-owned so all of my workout outfits are garments from Vinted (btw, if you’re not yet on the Vinted train, what even are you doing?!).

Yet, when it comes to activewear, we have to be a bit more mindful of the material we invest in. The majority of activewear is made of synthetic fibers, for its cost efficiency as well as its light fabric. Yet, synthetic fibers leech toxins, especially as “sweat pulls toxic chemicals out of fibers”.

Even eco-conscious brands often advertise their products as being “made of recycled water bottles” (a mere bandaid to the problem IMHO) and mind you, these fibers are still synthetic. I’m an all-or-nothing type of woman. Once I know, I act. So let’s get us some alternative, toxin-free workout gear:

  1. Asquith London. The best leggings! I’ve been wearing Asquith for over 7 years. It’s still my favorite brand for its simple designs, comfortable yet flattering cuts, and its commitment to non-toxic clothing before everyone else.
  2. Pact. BRILLIANT. And not just because they combine comfort with accessibility, but because they are actually stylish. It’s 2024, we’re not compromising.
  3. Tracksmith. For my runners out here. Don’t worry, I got you. They also have a run club and tons of fun activities to join.
  4. Tripulse. Obsessed with the look of these. Never tried them, but defo will; review pending!
  5. Groceries. Love the fact that they offer natural dye options, and great ones at that.
  6. Reprise. The sweatpants and cypress leggings – a dream!
  7. Nagnata. Less staples and more fun one-off pieces if you ask me. I’d go for the leggings.
  8. Mate the Label. Clean and simple. Can’t vouch for the fit as I haven’t tried them, but their sweaters seem great!
  9. Icebreaker. For the outdoor people up in here. Maybe one day I’ll join you.
  10. Hessnatur. A little German brand, great for finding all kinds of items – not necessarily on the most style-forward side but with great pieces.
  11. Paka. Might sound weird, but they’ve got a great sock game. Cozy AF could have been another brand name of theirs.
  12. Organique Studio. If I were an apparel brand, it wouldn’t look too different from this one. Very excited about this find, ngl.
